Yearly Memory Jar

Sunday, December 29, 2019
Do you remember in high school and college when you saved everything? Like ticket stubs to lame movies and ribbons you wore in your championship volleyball game? Yes, everything!

Recently my dad cleaned out his storage shed and gifted me all those boxes of treasures I had saved.  Needless to say, many of those goodies found a new home in a landfill somewhere!

Well, way back in 2012 I streamlined my memories a bit. At the beginning of each year, I buy a mason jar and label it with the year using my Silhouette.

In the early years, I used a small mason jar but when Luke joined the crew, we upgraded to this giant gallon-sized mason jar!

Here's a peek at 2020's jar!

JB and I fill it with the really meaningful things - from birthday cards from each other, a ticket stub for a trip we took, Luke's hospital bracelet from when he was born, and even the Post-It notes we write to each other.

At the end of each year, we pull the jar out from the cabinet and look over the past year. It's a great way to reflect on the good {and bad} that's happened over the year.

I can't wait till Luke gets a bit older and he can start his own memory jar!

I hope this year is filled with lots of memories - big and small!
