Tuesday, July 9, 2019
You think you have a good memory...until you have a baby. I used to remember every single detail of my day, a recipe, or plots of books. These

So to keep track of Luke's various illnesses and not think, "When did he have that?!" or "Wait, has he had pink eye?" I whipped up this simple way to keep track of all those sniffles, doctors visits, and medicines!

It's super simple to use - just print out the Sick Notes {I used cardstock for durability} and tuck it somewhere safe.

I am not a huge TV watcher.  Like everyone, I have limited time and I'd honestly rather spend my time reading! However, occasionally I need to zone out and just watch the ol' boob tube.

First things first…are you a Kindle/E-Reader reader or an actual book person? I’m a HUGE fan of the Kindle.  It is on me at all times so I’m never without a book. I have the Kindle Paperwhite…because I like to read in bed using the illuminated screen.  It really is worth the extra bucks!

This may be one of the only times that people are willing to do your laundry, cook you a meal or watch your baby while you sleep. Seriously, take them up on the offer!

My mom and dad stocked our fridge with grab & go snacks and meals from Costco so dinner was one less thing we needed to think about.

You guys...sleep training Luke has changed my world!!! I'm not even kidding. At the risk of jinxing the long hours he sleeps, I'm a little afraid to even mention this BUT sleep training really IS all it's cracked up to be!

My Favorite Books for Infants

Sunday, April 7, 2019
It's pretty well-known among my friends that I'm a book nerd. I read everything - from Reader's Digest {yes, it's totally my favorite magazine!} to books from the NY Bestsellers List and everything in between.

Being a book nerd and a teacher, I am a HUGE proponent of early literacy. Kids need to see their parents read and be fluent models to grow as little readers of their own. A recent study published in Pediatrics found that toddlers interacted more with print books than eBooks. So having a print-rich baby library can definitely contribute to your child's future success.

First things first. Have you ever been in a conversation where people start talking the latest politics/climate change news/sports/popstar gossip and think, What the heck are they talking about? Me too...until I discovered The Skimm

Years ago when JB and I started dating, I started writing him notes a lot. I would slip one into his wallet, slap it on the mirror, or even drop a note in his lunch {which no doubt embarrassed him when he'd take out his lunch to heat up!}

In my classroom, I love using Printable Post-Its to drop a quick note of praise for students.  So then it got me thinking that I could whip up a set for your special guy or gal!

Printing on Post-Its is SO much easier than you think!

To start, print the page of notes you'd like to turn into a love note :)

Then, cover that page {or just the boxes you'd like to print} and put the paper back into your printer.

Keep in mind that all printers work differently so you may need to play around to see how you should feed the paper back through your printer.

Now, print the same page again and voila...your notes are ready to go!

I leave these notes all over the house to let JB know I'm thinking of him.

Oh, and of course to remind him of the things he needs to do :) If it's on a cute note it's not nagging, right?!

The Best Irish Soda Bread

Friday, March 1, 2019
Hands down, my favorite holiday is St. Patrick's Day. I love the shenanigans that are allowed from kids to adults. It's just a fun day of merriment for everyone with leprechaun traps, wearing green, pinching, and of course, green beer!

The Best & Easiest Irish Soda Bread! Simple recipe from Lucky & Co

And while the Irish are not known for their food {although that is certainly changing!} there is something that cannot be disputed - Irish Soda Bread is the crown jewel of baked goods!

For as long as I can remember, my mom has baked Irish Bread for every holiday, birthday, or random Friday. It was definitely comfort food in the Lynch House growing up.

As I got older, my mom passed on the tradition of baking her Irish Bread to me. Now whether it was because she no longer wanted to deal with the sticky dough on her hands...I'm not sure! However,  I loved that she passed on the special job of creating something my family loved to me.

Today, I'm sharing her recipe with you. I'm sure this easy to make bread will become a staple in your home, too.  There are just eight simple ingredients.
To begin, you need a good cast iron skillet. Make sure to grease it well with some butter.
Cut the softened butter into your flour.
Then, mix all the rest of your dry ingredients.
Then, slowly add in the room-temperature buttermilk.
Now I'll be honest, for years I hand-kneaded the dough {and then picked little pieces out of my fingernails and rings for hours after!} I'm here to let you in on a little secret - using your Kitchen Aid mixer will produce the same exact results...and you won't get {as} dirty!
After a minute or two of mixing, everything should stick together in a big clump. Next, you'll dump the dough into your cast-iron skillet. Your hands will get a little dirty here when you drop the dough into your buttered cast iron skillet.
Use your fingers to smooth the dough around the edges of the skillet.  Drop a small amount of buttermilk on top of your bread and smooth it on top of the entire loaf.  This will give your bread a nice golden hue as you bake it.

Lastly, make a quick + on the top of your bread.

Bake the Irish Bread for 50 minutes at 350 degrees.

Then, bump up the oven to 400 degrees for the final ten minutes. This will finish it off crispy, golden edges.

Immediately, take your bread out of the oven and let it cool.

It's best to enjoy your bread with Kerrygold Irish Butter.  Trust me - it's worth the extra calories {and a couple of bucks!)}

Irish Soda Bread makes great toast, too!

Let me know if you try it!

First of all, meet Luke. He made his entrance a week early. He was frank breech so I was prepared for a c-section. What I didn’t know when I set out on a shopping excursion with my mom and sister is that I had actually been in labor for hours! I went to lunch, walked up and down the SF hills and even made a Target run.

Pregnancy Must-Haves

Now that I'm well into my 100th
9th month of being pregnant, I thought I'd share some of my absolute must-haves that have made my life a bit easier these past 9 months of pregnancy!

I am super fortunate. I've had a very easy pregnancy so far. I've felt great and have had a decent amount of energy. However, once I turned the corner on month 8...oh boy! It made me even more grateful for what a good pregnancy I've had.  My feet are swelling up like Fred Flinstone, my back is starting to ache, and somehow...your body just knows it shouldn't get too comfortable with sleep and wakes you up every hour to pee!
